2. Preparing the Tooth

3. Placing the Filling

4. Post-Treatment Care

1

Examination and Diagnosis

Dr. Ari Forman or Dr. Peter Rossen will carefully evaluate your teeth using visual exams and digital X-rays to identify decay or damage. If a filling is recommended, we’ll walk you through the details and answer any questions before moving forward.

2

Preparing the Tooth

After identifying the affected tooth, we’ll get it ready for treatment by:

  • Numbing the Area: A local anesthetic is used to keep you completely comfortable throughout the procedure.
  • Removing Decay: The damaged or decayed tooth structure is gently cleared away to stop the progression of decay and create space for the filling.
3

Placing the Filling

After the tooth is prepared:

  • Filling Placement: Composite resin is applied in thin layers, with each layer hardened using a curing light to create a strong, secure bond.
  • Shaping and Polishing: The filling is then shaped and polished to blend seamlessly with your natural tooth. We’ll also check your bite to make sure everything feels comfortable and functions properly.
4

Post-Treatment Care

Once your filling is complete, you can return to your normal routine right away. We’ll share simple care guidelines to help keep your filling strong and healthy, including brushing and flossing tips and recommendations to reduce the risk of future decay.
